Five members of Moritz’s Class of 2011 have been named editors-in-chief of the College’s five law journals for the 2010-11 school year. Jessica Kim will lead the Ohio State Law Journal; Rachel Wenning will take over the Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution; Bridget Hinegardner was named editor-in-chief of the Ohio State Journal of Criminal Law; Jasmine L. Jackson will head I/S: A Journal of Law and Policy for the Information Society; and Mark R. Manning will take the helm of the Entrepreneurial Business Law Journal.

Jessica KimKim, of Sylvania, Ohio, graduated from Miami University with majors in political science and global development. This summer, Kim expects to work in the Columbus office of Vorys, Sater, Seymour & Pease. “My main goal is to maintain the Ohio State Law Journal’s strong reputation of excellent legal scholarship, while taking steps to ensure that the journal continues to become a more academically diverse publication,” she said. “I am excited for the opportunity to cultivate and expand the prestige of the journal, while also facilitating the academic and social experience of its membership.”

Rachel WenningWenning, of Dayton, Ohio, is a graduate of The Ohio State University, where she majored in philosophy. Wenning has externed for Judge John D. Holschuh of the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio. Wenning said that her interest in the Journal on Dispute Resolution stemmed from her vast legal interests. “Alternative dispute resolution practices are used in many areas of the law, and as someone with varied legal interests, I knew I could learn a lot and find a note topic that would interest me as well,” she said. “JDR has a great reputation, and that was also a motivating factor for me in choosing to join.”

Bridget HinegardnerHinegardner, also of Dayton, majored in criminology and psychology at The Ohio State University prior to attending Moritz. In the 2010 summer, she plans to work in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of Ohio. “The faculty and student members on the Ohio State Journal of Criminal Law are wonderful to work with, and I am very proud to be a member of this journal,” she said. “I wanted to be editor-in-chief because I could work with people I like on a subject matter that I love, as well as embrace the leadership opportunities that the editor-in-chief position provides.”

Jasmine L. JacksonJackson, of Canton, Ohio, received her bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University, where she majored in sociology and biochemistry. As she did in her first summer at Moritz, Jackson plans to again work at Porter Wright Morris & Arthur in the upcoming summer. “Being editor-in-chief became a goal of mine when I realized the opportunities the editor-in-chief has to shape the future of the journal,” she said. “I/S is a relatively new journal and still has untapped potential. New challenges stemming from the increasing role of technology in people’s personal and professional lives seem to confront us at an unprecedented rate, inspiring authors and policy makers to explore and debate the legal and policy issues presented.”

Mark R. ManningManning, of Cincinnati, graduated from Xavier University, where he majored in philosophy, politics, and the public honors program. Manning expects to spend the upcoming summer working with Kohnen and Patton LLP in Cincinnati. Manning said that he was drawn to the Entrepreneurial Business Law Journal (EBLJ) because of its business focus. “I joined EBLJ because it was the only journal specifically addressing the area of law I was most directly interested in practicing: business law,” he said. “By choosing EBLJ, I was able to better develop my writing skills by creating a note on a developing area of business law.”
