Berman To Discuss Prosecutors' Power

Professor Berman
Professor Douglas Berman will speak at two upcoming events entitled “Preserving Your Business and Reputation in the Face of Unwarranted Prosecution.” The discussions will dissect the power of federal and state prosecutors in our society. Professor Berman will join D. Michael Crites of Dinsmore & Shohl and Ralph W. Kohnen of Taft Stettinius & Hollister in panels during the Tuesday, June 9 events in Columbus and Cincinnati.
After graduating from Harvard Law School, Professor Berman served as a law clerk for Judge Jon O. Newman and then for Judge Guido Calabresi, both on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Professor Berman's principal teaching and research focus is in the area of criminal law and criminal sentencing. He is the sole creator and author of the widely read and widely cited web log, Sentencing Law and Policy.
Introductory speakers at the events, which are sponsored by the Buckeye Institute for Public Policy Solutions, are Jon Entine of the American Enterprise Institute and author of No Crime But Prejudice: Fischer Homes, the Immigration Fiasco and Extra-judicial Prosecution; Henry Fischer, chairman and CEO of Fischer Homes; and the attorney for Fischer Homes, David Futscher of Parry, Deering, Futscher & Sparks.
The Columbus event will begin at 8 a.m. at the Athletic Club of Columbus at 136 E. Broad St. Complimentary valet parking is available. The Cincinnati discussion will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Westin Hotel’s Taft Room at 21 E. Fifth St.
