Moot Court Teams Continue Winning Streak

Moritz Moot Court teams continue to bring home top honors. In late February, members of Ohio State’s Sports and Entertainment Law team received top oralists awards, and members of the College’s ABA Mediation Advocacy team recently advanced to the national competition.

Sports Law2L Sarah Grimm was honored with the first-place oralist award at the Mardi Gras Invitational Sports Law Competition in New Orleans on Feb. 18-20. Matthew Spriggs, a third-year law student, was honored as third-place oralist. The two Moritz students competed in a field of more than 90 competitors. Grimm is originally from Columbus and received a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University. Spriggs is from Dayton, Ohio, and is a graduate of Miami University.

Mediations Team 2Also, Tiffany Smith and Joel Moore finished in the top spot at the Regional Mediation Advocacy Competition in Detroit on March 9. Moore, a second-year law student, is from Buffalo, N.Y., and has degrees from Howard University and Case Western Reserve University. Smith, a 3L, is from Kissimmee, Fla., and has a bachelor’s degree from American University. Another Moritz team, comprised of Michelle Mann and Beth Uhrich, advanced to the final round of the regional mediation competition.

“We are delighted to report that both Moritz teams did an outstanding job at the (competition),” said Marya Kolman, who, along with Dottie Painter ’96, advised the team.
