SELA (Sports and Entertainment Law Association) will present the inaugural Sports Law Forum on Friday, Feb. 22 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Barrister Club. The forum is designed to give Moritz students exposure to top-level professionals from the business and legal sides of the sports industry. This event will provide the opportunity for interested students to eat lunch and personally interact with some of the most influential practitioners in the field of professional sports. Confirmed speakers include:
These accomplished individuals have been asked to discuss how they have used their education to succeed in the field of sports law, among other topics. The forum will consist of individual lectures as well as a question-and-answer panel. In this panel, the speakers will answer pre-selected questions as well as questions from students on the floor. With time permitting, there will be a meet-and-greet afterwards for students to continue discussions with some of the professionals.
For those interested in ADR, but not necessarily interested in the area of sports law, this is an opportunity to speak directly to individuals who have developed and worked to refine their negotiation, facilitation, and other informal dispute resolution skills. SELA encourages everyone to attend for the benefit of discussing these individuals' professional experiences. For students who are attending and also seeking an ADR Certificate, please let John Minter know and he will credit you with three hours of ADR Certificate externship credit.
Spots at the forum may be limited, so please register to guarantee your spot. There will be a sign-up table for this event outside Lou's Café on Wednesday, Feb. 20 and Thursday, Feb. 21. For more information, contact Derek Smith at smith.5625@osu.edu
