Professor Martha Chamallas was recognized at halftime of the Ohio State-Minnesota game
Moritz Professor Martha Chamallas was recognized at a halftime salute to Ohio State distinguished faculty and staff at the Minnesota game. She was honored as an Ohio State Distinguished Lecturer for 2006-2007.
The University Distinguished Lecture Series annually recognizes two senior faculty members for their outstanding academic achievement, particularly, but not exclusively, in research, scholarship, or creative activity. Each recipient presents a scholarly lecture, open to the university community and to the public, followed by a reception. The lecturer receives an award of $5,000 from the Office of Academic Affairs to be spent in support of an academic program or project of her or his choice.
The Robert J. Lynn Chair in Law, Professor Chamallas was on the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law prior to joining the Moritz College of Law faculty in 2002. She has taught at Louisiana State University Law Center, the University of Iowa College of Law, Washington University School of Law, and the University of Richmond School of Law. She is a leading scholar in a number of fields, including employment law, torts, and legal issues affecting women. At Moritz Law she teaches torts, employment discrimination and feminist legal theory.
Professor Chamallas is the fourth Moritz Law faculty member to be so recognized. Previous lectures were presented by Professor Joshua Dressler (2005), Professor Ruth Colker (2001), and Professor Deborah Jones Merritt (1998-1999).
Professor Chamallas will present her lecture at 4 p.m., Monday, March 12 in the Wexner Center's Film/Video Theatre.
