Barrister Club Grand Opening and Mentoring Program Kick-Off
Former Senator John Edwards was the featured speaker
September 30, 2005
On Friday, September 30, Moritz Law celebrated two new beginnings: the official opening of the Barrister Club, and the kick-off of the Mentoring and More @ Moritz Program.
The Barrister Club is a $2.2 million privately-financed dining/conference facility built specifically to foster interaction between students, faculty, alumni and others in the bar. It is also home to the Mentoring and More @ Moritz Program, which places students in mentoring relationships with practicing attorneys, whose careers reflect the highest ideas of the profession, in order to challenge students to think about their future role as professionals in the legal community.
Barrister Club donors and Mentoring Program participants listened to remarks from former Senator John Edwards, director of the Center on Poverty, Work and Opportunity at the University of North Carolina School of Law, participated in a live question-and-answer session with the Senator, and then enjoyed lunch and a discussion of issues he raised.
