Law Review Submission Resources
Several resources are available for detailed information on law review submissions:
- Two University of Missouri at Kansas City law professors have published a chart on SSRN (last updated in July 2012) containing information on article submissions to print journals. The chart covers 202 general law reviews and includes information on methods of submission, special formatting requirements, how to expedite a review, and how to withdraw an article from consideration.
- The Moritz Law Library has recently made available a chart on the library website showing which among 30 top law reviews accept essay submissions for their print publications. The chart also notes which of the named law reviews publish online supplements.
- A University of South Carolina law professor has made available on SSRN a submission guide for online law review supplements (last updated in August 2012). The guide contains information on 46 supplements.
HeinOnline Mobile App
HeinOnline provides convenient access to its vast library of legal material through a mobile app compatible with iPads and iPhones. Users can view image-based versions of items like law review articles, which are retrievable by citation. Advanced search options are also available. In addition to law journals, HeinOnline's resources include a large amount of legislative history material and a considerable number of foreign and international titles. Users must IP authenticate with the app on campus before using it remotely.
Top Quotes of the Year
Yale law librarian Fred Shapiro, editor of The Yale Book of Quotations, has released his annual list of the ten most notable quotes of the year. The top five are all by Mitt Romney or Barack Obama with Romney's "47%" quote topping the list. Other notables on the list include Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke's testimony to a House committee about a "fiscal cliff" and South Korean rapper PSY's lyric "Oppan Gangnam style" from his billion-plus hits YouTube video. An Associated Press story gives the complete list. Shapiro explains his selection method in a brief video.
