Charles Ogletree - Keynote Speaker
Harvard Law School Jesse Climenko Professor of Law and Founding and Executive Director of the Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race and Justice
Outspoken civil rights attorney and educator Charles Ogletree earned both his bachelor's and master's degree in political science from Stanford University in the early 1970's. He was awarded his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1978. Today, he serves as the Jesse Climenko professor of law and vice dean for Clinical Programs at Harvard Law School, and has recently been appointed director of the new Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race and Justice at Harvard University.
Ogletree has been named one of the 100 Most Influential Lawyers in America by The National Law Journal. He also is the recipient of numerous awards and honorary degrees including the NAACP's Universal Humanitarian Award. Ogletree's career has focused on securing equal rights for everyone with works including All Deliberate Speed: Reflections on the First Half-Century of Brown v. Board of Education, and Brown at 50, the Unfinished Legacy.
