How to Submit an Article

The Ohio State Law Journal will begin accepting submissions for the upcoming year in March 2010. The Journal now accepts submissions electronically on ExpressO and in paper form. We look forward to reading your work.

To submit an article in paper form for possible publication in the Ohio State Law Journal, please send one paper copy with footnotes – in Bluebook format – to:

Please include a cover letter with your contact information, including your email address. The Journal uses email to acknowledge receipt of articles. Therefore, if you do not include an email address, we cannot acknowledge receipt of your article. If we would like to offer you publication, we will telephone you; we send rejections by U.S. Mail. You may include a CV with your submission.

The Ohio State Law Journal tends to publish only articles by faculty members and judges. However, we are happy to consider articles by practitioners and students. We only accept scholarly articles of national interest. We do not publish practitioner-oriented articles, articles of only state or local interest, or book reviews. Because we receive more than 1000 submissions each year, we are forced to turn down many fine articles. The best time to send an article is usually (1) in late February through mid-April, or (2) in mid-August through mid-October.

Expedited Review

After submitting your article, if you receive a competing offer for your article and you remain interested in publishing with the Ohio State Law Journal, we would be happy to oblige your expedited review request. Simply provide us with information regarding the competing offer, and we will call you prior to the expiration of that offer if we are able to give you an offer to publish your article. When making an expedited review request, please include your name, your article's title, the deadline date – preferably at least two weeks – and the name of the journal or review that made you the offer.

Withdrawing Your Article

If you have accepted an offer to publish elsewhere or if for any other reason you wish to withdraw your article from our consideration, please give us notice soon as possible.
