Discussing the ever-expanding role of women in business leadership positions will be Christie A. Hill ’86, Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, Dun & Bradstreet Corp., Lynn Ready, Associate Vice President, Facilities Operations & Development for The Ohio State University., and Beth Spain, ’02, Associate General Counsel, Nationwide Children’s Hospital.  Moritz Law Professor Stephanie Hoffer will moderate the panel.

Christie A. Hill is Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, Dun & Bradstreet Corp., a publicly-traded Fortune 500 company that provides commercial data to businesses on credit history, business-to-business sales and marketing, counterparty risk exposure, supply chain management, and lead scoring and social identity matching. Hill joined D&B in September 2011 as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary and brings over 25 years of M&A, commercial, corporate governance and compliance experience as head of the company’s legal, compliance, and government affairs functions.

Prior to joining D&B, Hill served as the General Counsel, Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer of Primus Telecommunications Group, Inc., a global telecommunications company, following its acquisition of Arbinet Corporation, where she served as General Counsel, Secretary and Chief Human Resources Officer. Before joining Arbinet, Hill ran the oversight liaison and reporting function in the Office of Financial Stability at the U.S. Department of Treasury following her ten years of service at Nextel Communications and then Sprint Nextel Corporation, where she held various leadership positions in the company’s legal and governance organizations, including her most recent position as Vice President, Corporate Secretary and Chief Ethics Officer. Before joining Nextel in 1998, Hill served as counsel at Honda of America Mfg., where her responsibilities included a variety of corporate, transactional and compliance matters, and began her career at Jones Day in the firm’s mergers and acquisitions group.

Hill earned a B.A. from the Ohio State University and a J.D. from the Ohio State University College of Law.

Lynn Readey

Lynn Ready is Associate Vice President, Facilities Operations & Development (FOD) for The Ohio State University.

Mary Lynn Readey is responsible for strategic and operational aspects of major components of the university’s physical environment, including general renovation and construction, contract administration, custodial, maintenance and landscape services; environmental health and safety; utilities; energy services and sustainability; roads and grounds; and real estate operations. Much of Lynn’s professional focus in the last 10 years has been in the area of public construction. She previously served as Deputy General Counsel in the Office of Legal Affairs and is a past Executive Director of the Ohio School Facilities Commission, the state agency devoted to construction of K-12 school buildings, and construction law was one of her primary focus areas in the Office of Legal Affairs.

Readey received her B.A. in economics from Southeast Missouri State University in 1975 and a second degree in economics from the University of Vermont in 1984. In between, she served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force and in the Air Force Reserves. She received her J.D. from the University of Dayton School of Law.

She also has served as president of the Ohio Women’s Bar Association and on the boards of the Columbus and Dayton Bar Associations and the Franklin County Legal Aid Society.

Beth SpainBeth Spain, ’02
Beth Spain is Associate General Counsel at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. In this role, Spain provides legal advice to physicians, nurses, hospital staff, and hospital leadership on a wide range of issues, including complex patient care issues and quality investigations, risk mitigation strategies, regulatory compliance, and employment matters.

Prior to joining the Legal Services team at NCH, Spain served as Assistant Counsel at Honda North America in Marysville, Ohio, where her practice focused exclusively in the area of labor and employment law. Spain began her legal career at the law firm of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP in Columbus, Ohio, where she practiced as an Associate in the Litigation Group for over ten years.

Spain earned a B.A. from Miami University and a J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.
