The General Counsel Series of the Law, Finance and Governance program presents a panel discussion by Doug L. Williams, Robert Stalter, and Miranda Stephani, Generals Counsel of L Brands (formerly Limited Brands), who will discuss their careers and roles as general counsel at a major national corporation.
Doug Williams is Executive Vice President, General Counsel, for L Brands, Inc. In this role, he is responsible for the efficient delivery of quality legal services to the organization and also serves as the company’s Chief Compliance Officer, Chairman of the company’s Business Ethics Committee and Co-Leader of the company’s Values and Inclusion Steering Committee.
Prior to L Brands, Doug was a Partner with the Columbus, Ohio, based law firm of Vorys, Sater, Seymour & Pease and spent eight years as a Partner with the law firm of Schwartz, Kelm, Warren & Rubenstein. He has also served as an Assistant Professor at The Ohio State University College of Law.
Doug is a member of the Ohio and California bars as well as a member of the Order of The Coif. He received his B.S. from the U.S. Air Force Academy, his M.S. from Central Missouri State University, and his J.D. (with honors) from The Ohio State University. An active member of the Columbus community, Doug is a board member for the Center for Family Safety and Healing, the Community Shelter, the Columbus Foundation and the L Brands Foundation.
Miranda Stephani is a senior attorney at L Brands, Inc. where she handles a broad range of commercial matters, including corporate governance, securities, banking and other treasury matters, international expansion, technology licensing, joint ventures and the procurement of goods and services. Prior to joining L Brands five years ago, Miranda was a business associate at the Columbus office of Hahn Loeser & Parks. She graduated from the Moritz College of Law in 2006, where she was a founder and the first Editor-In-Chief of the Ohio State Entrepreneurial Business Law Journal.
Rob Stalter received his J.D. from Moritz in 2006. During his last two summers at Moritz, he clerked at Porter Wright Morris & Arthur, LLP, and following graduation he worked as an Associate at Porter Wright for five years. Rob handled labor and employment matters for numerous clients while at the firm. His work included providing legal advice on employment issues to HR and management personnel, as well as handling administrative charges and employment litigation for companies of all sizes. After his five years at Porter Wright, Rob took his current in-house position with L Brands, where he has handled employment matters for the past three years.
