External Awards

There are a variety of sources of non-repayable aid outside of the Moritz College of Law, including grants/scholarships from the university, local bar associations, philanthropic organizations, etc. The Moritz Office of Admissions and Financial Aid has several copies of the 2004-06 How to Pay for Your Law Degree on file and has also placed a copy on reserve in the law library for student use.

Additionally, the Moritz Office of Career Services maintains a binder of local, regional, and national scholarships and grants. The Office of Career Services publicizes these in its twice-monthly newsletter, Future Interests.

Finally, there are a variety of free online scholarship search sites that might provide information about other sources of scholarship/grant aid. One potentially helpful web site can be found at www.fastweb.com.

The Moritz College of Law and the Ohio State University Office of Student Financial Aid generally discourage students from using scholarship search services which require the student to pay a fee.

NOTE: Entering and continuing students who are awarded a grant(s) or scholarship(s) from outside of the Moritz College of Law and the university (e.g., from a local philanthropic organization) must inform the Ohio State Office of Student Financial Aid of this financial assistance. Students may email lawfinaid@osu.edu with the name of the award and the amount of the award.
