Deferments & Consolidation Tips
As a prospective student you may have already incurred educational debt, and it's possible you'll incur additional debt as you invest in a law school education. Here are a number of tools that can help you manage your debt and finance your professional education.
Deferments
If you'd like to receive a deferment for your undergraduate or graduate school loans, contact your lender directly and request a deferment form. Complete the form and mail it to the Moritz College of Law Registrar Office. If all your educational debt is through the Federal Stafford Loan program, you should not need to request a deferment form because OSU will automatically report your enrollment to the clearinghouse. Like most law schools, we will not certify your enrollment until after the first day of class. The address is:
The Ohio State University
Moritz College of Law
Registrar's Office
55 W 12th Ave, Drinko Hall
Columbus, OH 43210
Loan Consolidation
Consolidating education loans after graduation from law school can help you cope with the repayment of large loans by extending the repayment period and reducing the monthly payment. To learn more about federal consolidation loans, visit www.loanconsolidation.ed.gov.
