Autumn 2013 Courses
Professor Katherine Silver Kelly joined the Moritz faculty in 2012. She teaches Legal Analysis and Writing (LAW) I and II and is the director of the Academic Support Program.
Kelly is a graduate of Berea College, the University of Kentucky, and the University of Akron School of Law, where she graduated cum laude. Kelly graduated from Berea with a B.A. in history. She earned her M.A. in education from the University of Kentucky and, before attending law school, was an award-winning economics and government teacher. In law school she was a Dean’s Scholar, awarded the ALI/ABA Leadership Award and Arthur Goldberg Prize, and was a founding member of the Moot Court Honor Society, where she competed on the American Bar Association national appellate advocacy team.
Following her law school graduation, she served as a judicial attorney for Judge Elinore Marsh Stormer at the Summit County Court of Common Pleas and then as the director of Academic Success Programs at the University of Akron School of Law.
Kelly has been active in many service activities, including serving as a mentor in the Ohio Supreme Court Lawyer to Lawyer Mentoring Program, coaching the 2010 and 2011 national champion Child Welfare & Adoption Law moot court teams, and has been a presenter for both the Institute for Law Teaching and Learning and for the National Conference of Bar Examiners.
