Tanya Poteet is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Criminology and Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Capital University.
Prior to teaching at Capital University, she worked as an assistant public defender for the Office of the State Public Defender, where she specialized in death penalty cases. In that capacity, Poteet defended inmates convicted of capital murder in their post-conviction appeals before the state courts of Ohio.
In addition, she has worked for the Legal Aid Society and the American Civil Liberties Union. Poteet brings both her educational and work experiences to the classroom, teaching classes in: the Criminal Justice System, Sociology of Law, Class and Crime, Criminology, Social Research Methods, and Principles of Sociology.
