GOP Lawsuit in New Hampshire
It is being reported that the New Hampshire Republican State Committee is filing a lawsuit against the New Hampshire Secretary of State, William Gardner, claiming that Republican election observers are being kept away from new registration tables. EL@M will provide updates as additional information becomes available. UPDATE: The lawsuit was filed before noon today and arguments were made in front of Hillsborough County Superior Court Gillian Abramson.

Van Hollen Plans to Deploy Observers in WI
Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen will deploy around 50 assistant attorneys general to polling places on November 4, presumably to see whether actual polling place operations conform to Van Hollen's understanding of the law. Van Hollen recently lost a lawsuit that he had brought against Wisconsin's chief election official to force the state to go back and perform database matches on the registrations of voters who had registered before Wisconsin's facility for performing these kinds of checks had been set up. Under the Voting Rights Act, the Justice Department is authorized to ask the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to send federal observers to areas that are certified by the Attorney General or by a federal court order.

Teens could serve at polls in NM under House bill
Though they can't cast a vote, 16- and 17-year-olds would be allowed to help you cast yours, under legislation approved by the House. The bill would allow the teens to work at polling places under the supervision of certain adult poll workers.

Madison County commissioners were told Friday to expect a tab of more than $500,000 for the special election to replace former state Sen. Parker Griffith, who was elected to Congress in November. Just under two years remain on his four-year Senate term.

Indiana Republican Poll Workers Removed for Improper Vote Challenges
Two Republican elections workers have been removed from an Indianapolis area-polling site for improperly challenging voters on the basis of their party affiliation.
