Alabama Felony Voting Suit Dismissed

Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge Tracy McCooey has dismissed a lawsuit filed by the ACLU to clarify which felons are permitted to vote in elections under Alabama state law.  Judge McCooey determined that the plaintiffs lacked standing to bring the suit (Read the court's order).  An appeal is expected, although it is unlikely that the case will be resolved prior to the the general election in November.  See the EL@M case page for more information and additiona case documents.

Polling places to change for access for disabled

Probate Judge Mike Davis told the Limestone County Commission Monday that nine polling places would have to be relocated because they do not comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act.
