The Career Services Office has developed guides to help law students organize their job search and professional development needs. A short description of each will follow with the appropriate link. After looking over the guides, please feel free to make an appointment with your career advisor to discuss these topics.
Legal Career Options - Career options following law school are varied and plentiful, so it is a good idea to explore your options while in law school. Each year, graduates begin their careers in local, national, and even international venues.
Researching Potential Employers - Employers are looking for candidates who genuinely want to work for them. Researching employers will help you determine if they are a good fit with your interests.
Informational Interviews - The purpose of an informational interview is to get information that will help you in your job search. It is not an interview for a job. This process, if conducted skillfully, can be an incredible source of networking, knowledge and "inside information" on hiring criteria and decision making.
Email Etiquette - While many of the same rules that apply to traditional forms of communication will apply to emailing, there are some unique guidelines to follow when you email potential employers.
A Word About Grades - You can and will find a satisfying job without top grades. Moritz is a highly selective, top tier school with an established reputation for producing exceptional attorneys. Law school grades are not the last word on "opportunity."
