Democracy Studies Program

audience

The Ohio State University’s Democracy Studies Program is a nonpartisan initiative dedicated to nurturing the American people’s understanding of its own self-government. The program supports continuous scholarly examination of American democracy’s norms, procedures, and institutions, as they develop, in light of democracy’s inevitable transformations through history.

The program is predicated on the belief that self-government cannot replicate itself through the generations unless the citizenry as a whole has a well-developed understanding of the norms and institutions that underlie and constitute democracy’s operation.

Through thought-provoking programming and scholarship, Ohio State University scholars are exploring the evolution of democracy in the present day. For more information about the Democracy Studies Program and its initiatives, contact Daphne Meimaridis at meimaridis.3@osu.edu.
