Writing Samples
Some employers request that you submit a writing sample as part of your application.
If an employer specifies a certain format, be sure to conform your writing sample accordingly. However, most firms do not give any guidelines. In that case, it is recommended that you submit no more than a 10-page writing sample, which will likely be an excerpt of a larger brief, motion or memorandum.
Be sure to attach a cover memo explaining that your sample is an excerpt. The excerpt should include the relevant facts of the case and one or more complete legal arguments.
The goal is to provide the employer with a fine-tuned written piece which demonstrates your analytical and research abilities. Employers also want to determine your attention to detail so make sure that you proofread the document and ask someone else to proofread it as well.

Transcripts
Many employers require that you submit a transcript either with your initial application or later in the employment process. A copy of your transcript can be obtained from the Registrar's office. If you are outside Columbus and are unable to obtain your transcript from the Registrar, you may give permission to allow Career Services to request your transcript and scan it into a pdf. document that you can receive via e-mail.
To upload your transcript onto the Symplicity database you must scan your transcript into a pdf document.
