Factor, Fairbanks place second in nation
Second-year students Amy Factor and Madalyn Fairbanks finished second in the National ABA Representation in Mediation Competition held last week in Miami. The team advanced to the national competition after winning their regional competition held in Providence, RI earlier in the winter. They were coached by Marya Kolman and Dottie Painter.
In the ten regional competitions, over 100 teams from 50 law schools competed for the right to advance to the national finals. Ten teams were invited to compete at the national competition consisting of students representing the following schools: Moritz, Emory Law, Fordham University School of Law, Marquette University Law School, Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, South Texas College of Law, Southwestern Law School, University of Idaho College of Law, University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, and William & Mary Law School.
After two preliminary rounds on April 2nd the teams from Moritz, Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, South Texas College of Law, and University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law advanced to the semi-final round on April 3rd. The teams from Moritz and Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University advanced to the championship round where Arizona State University students Alden Anderson and Chelsea Hesla prevailed.
