NSA surveillance program focus of ‘draft symposium’

NSA feature

A journal led by faculty and students at Moritz has launched an online “working draft symposium” on the surveillance programs of the National Security Agency. “NSA Surveillance: Issues of Security, Privacy, and Civil Liberty” is only the second symposium in the wake of recent revelations on NSA’s bulk collection of data about Americans’ telephone and Internet communications.

Symposium to focus on torts, civil rights law

The Ohio State Law Journal will explore the theoretical and doctrinal affinities and clashes between tort and anti-discrimination law at a Nov. 15 symposium, “Torts and Civil Rights Law: Migration and Conflict.” Tort law is playing a more prominent role in statutory interpretation under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA).

Moritz professors to help bring Supreme Court case to life

Four professors at Moritz will have a role in the upcoming play Arguendo, which is based on a 1991 Supreme Court case involving nudity and the First Amendment, at the Wexner Center for the Arts. The professors will participate in a talk-back session with the audience and director after the show to provide commentary.

Diversity Week kicks off Monday, events planned daily

This year’s Diversity Week at the Moritz College of Law will feature a number of engaging events, panels, and speakers on topics like immigration, LGBT marriage, race, and criminal justice. All events, except for Tuesday’s discussion with LL.M. students, begin at noon in the Saxbe Auditorium, and lunch will be provided.
