After Marriage: Experts Discuss LGBT Civil Rights

September 8, 2015 | Events

The Supreme Court ruled on June 26, 2015, that marriage equality was the law of the land. On Sept. 10 at noon in Saxbe Auditorium a panel of experts will discuss Obergefell v. Hodges, with a focus on what comes next for the LGBT community. What will be the fate of the alternative family structures that were created by LGBT couples who sought protections in the absence of marriage? What does marriage equality mean for anti-discrimination laws in other contexts? Panelists will include Professor Ruth Colker; Lori Gum, program and pride coordinator of Stonewall Columbus; Karla Rothan, executive director of Stonewall Columbus; and Angie Wellman, intercultural specialist, LGBTQ Student Initiatives at The Ohio State University Multicultural Center. Lunch will be provided.
