Program Expands College's International Reach
Now in its fourth year, Moritz’s LL.M. program is continuing to grow. This year we welcomed 17 foreign-trained lawyers to our program – our largest class to date! Lombardi Retires After 20 Years
After 20 years of service at Moritz, Pam Lombardi retired from her positions as director of alumni affairs and assistant dean for career services and external affairs last week. Pam came to the Moritz College of Law in 1990 to work in Career Services, and in her tenure at the College she has captained both that ship and Alumni Affairs. Her extraordinary creativity, professionalism, and care for the College allowed her to be a valued advisor to nearly everyone she encountered at the law school. ››Read more

Moritz Professor Launches Web Site Regarding Judicial Elections
Professor Ric Simmons has launched a research-based web site designed to help voters decide how to vote in judicial elections. Visitors to the site can answer a brief series of questions regarding their preferences, and the web site will recommend judicial candidates. Currently, data exists for Ohio, California, Illinois, and Iowa. The web site has a number of commentaries that discuss questions about judicial elections such as: What is the best way to pick our judges and what criteria should voters use in choosing a judge? ››Visit site

Three Remain Perfect Halfway Through Alumni Face Off
Moritz Dean Alan Michaels along with Sue Williams Case ’68 and Erin Moriarty ’77 remain perfect in the second annual Alumni Face Off college football picks. Michaels, Case, and Moriarty have correctly predicted the first five football games in the contest. The next game on the schedule is Saturday’s matchup between LSU and Florida. ››See the picks

 Shawna L. L’Italien ’96 was named a 40 under 40 Shining Star for community service and professional accomplishments in November 2009 by the Mahoning Valley Professional 20/30 Club and Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley. Of those 40 recipients, L’Italien also was named one of five MVPs. In May 2010, L’Italien received the Athena Award, sponsored by the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber and the Youngstown Vindicator, which is awarded to a woman for professional accomplishments, community service, and mentorship. L’Italien is a member/attorney at Harrington, Hoppe & Mitchell, Ltd in Salem, Ohio.
 Peter E. Krebs ’03 joined the Toledo, Ohio, office of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick as an associate in the firm’s Corporate Practice Group. Krebs has extensive experience representing buyers and sellers of both public and private businesses and business units and has substantial experience in representing clients in complex business reorganizations, debt restructurings, and insolvency matters.
