2nd Annual Alumni Face Off
Back by popular demand, Moritz alumni from each graduating decade (1950-2000s) and Dean Alan Michaels are squaring off this fall in the 2nd Annual Alumni Face Off. Former FDIC Chairman to Speak at Moritz Sept. 22
William Isaac '69 will explain what was different about the 2008 economic meltdown that allowed the failure of a comparative handful of financial institutions to nearly shut down the world's financial system. Isaac, chairman of Fifth Third Bank's Board of Directors and chairman of global financial services of LECG, will discuss his new book, which details what mistakes led to the panic of 2008 and 2009, demystifies the conditions America faced in 2008, and provides a roadmap for avoiding similar shutdowns and panics in the future. ››Register now

Last Chance to Register for Reunion Weekend 2010
Members of the Classes of 1960, 1965, 1970, 1975, 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000, and 2005 can now sign up for the festivities scheduled for Sept. 10-11. We have three great events planned for the weekend: the Reunion tailgate and class dinners, a Clinic Alumni Reunion, and the Barton Memorial Golf Tournament. Prof. Chamallas Co-Authors New Book on Tort Law
In The Measure of Injury: Race, Gender, and Tort Law, Ohio State University Moritz College of Law Professor Martha Chamallas and Jennifer Wriggins, a University of Maine School of Law professor, put tort law under a critical magnifying glass and describe with extraordinary clarity the pervasive effects of race and gender in the law of torts, effects often not visible upon a cursory glance because of the facial neutrality of many contemporary legal rules. ››Read more

Tobin ’81 Receives Moritz 2010 Public Service Award
Susan G. Tobin ’81 is the 2010 recipient of the Moritz College of Law’s Public Service Award for commitment to promoting and providing access to the justice system. Tobin is the chief legal counsel for the Ohio Legal Rights Service, Ohio’s system to protect and advocate the rights of people with disabilities. ››Read more

Dan Weiss ’85 has served as the executive director and chief investment officer of the Ohio Highway Patrol Retirement System, a $700 million pension plan, since the beginning of 2010. He continues to teach accounting, finance, and business law as an adjunct member of the Senior Faculty at Keller Graduate School of Management at DeVry University. During 2009-10, Weiss served as president of the board of directors of the Jazz Arts Group.
David A. Gradwohl ’72 recently co-authored a law review article titled “Equity Receiverships for Ponzi Schemes,” which was published in the Seton Hall Legislative Journal. The article explains the complicated steps that victims of Ponzi schemes must take in order to maximize recovery of their investments. Gradwohl is a partner in the Blue Bell, Penn., office of Fox Rothschild. ››More Alumni News ››Submit News
