Career Services Announces New Program to Benefit Employers, Students
Career Services has launched a new initiative, Moritz Short-term Assistance Registry (STAR). STAR is designed to provide private sector employers a pool of qualified and pre-approved second and third year students and graduates from the class of 2010 to hire for assistance with short-term projects.The intent of the program is to provide you with short term assistance with no obligation to hire on a continued basis and to give students interested in firm or corporate counsel work an opportunity to get some experience in the practice. ››Read more

Lieutenant Colonel Monica Gfoeller ’87 concluded her tour of duty as the Garrison Command Judge Advocate of Victory Base Complex Garrison in Baghdad, Iraq. Gfoeller is assigned to the 561st Regional Support Group from Omaha, Neb., as the unit's senior legal counsel. The unit was mobilized for active duty in July 2009 to manage the base, which is one of the largest in Iraq.
Tiffany T. Smith ’09 was the filing attorney for a pro bono lawsuit on behalf of constitutional law professor Abukar Hassan Ahmed, who was reportedly imprisoned and tortured in Somalia during the brutal regime of Siad Barre. Smith’s firm, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, joined with the Center for Justice and Accountability to file the suit. Smith was also elected on behalf o the firm’s first-year associates to serve as one of two representatives on the firm’s Associate Committee. ››More Alumni News ››Submit News
