| Colker Designated Distinguished University Professor |
Ruth Colker, the Heck Faust Chair in Constitutional Law at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, is one of the most influential figures in the field of disability law in the United States. Her scholarly work has influenced the United States Supreme Court and the U.S. Congress alike. At the same time, she has contributed path-breaking empirical and theoretical scholarship to the field of disability legal studies and also has maintained a record of innovative teaching and substantial service.
Colker was recently designated a 2009 Distinguished University Professor, the University’s highest academic honor.

Cocroft ’00 Begins Judgeship in Franklin County |
Kim Cocroft ’00 is two months into her judgeship with the Franklin County, Ohio, Court of Common Pleas. It’s a position that Cocroft said she was unsure she would ever have the opportunity to hold.
“I didn’t know or believe I would be able to attain this position,” she said.
Cocroft applied to be a judge because she knew she was capable of fulfilling the position. “Never self exclude,” she said. “Let someone else tell you you’re not qualified.”

Kaufman ’99 Perfecting Litigation in San Francisco |
Rebekah Kaufman ’99 came to The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law knowing she wanted to pursue a practice in litigation.
“At the time I wasn’t sure what area of the law I wanted to practice in, but I knew I wanted to do litigation,” she said.
After receiving her bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Barnard College in New York City and her master’s degree in philosophy from Ohio State, she decided to switch gears and go to law school.
“I really liked the analytical part of philosophy, but I didn’t want to be a teacher,” she said. “Law is a good extension of philosophy because of all the complex and practical work.” (Read More) |

Still Time to Sign Up For Barton Memorial |
The 4th Annual Barton Memorial Cup will be June 13 at the Golf Club of Dublin. Students will face off against alumni and faculty to determine which side will gain possession of the Barton Memorial Cup. All alumni, students, faculty, and friends of The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law are welcome to participate. Proceeds benefit law students through the Robert K. Barton ’62 Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Professor Berman To Discuss Prosecutors' Power |
Professor Douglas Berman will speak at two upcoming events entitled “Preserving Your Business and Reputation in the Face of Unwarranted Prosecution.” The discussions will dissect the power of federal and state prosecutors in our society.
Professor Berman will join D. Michael Crites of Dinsmore & Shohl and Ralph W. Kohnen of Taft Stettinius & Hollister in panels during the Tuesday, June 9 events in Columbus and Cincinnati.
