Mike Wise ’88: Helping Iraq’s Transition to the Rule of Law

Mike Wise ’88 understands a lawyer’s obligations to give back. He obviously could have taken an easier route, but the 48-year-old Columbus attorney put his law practice on hold for a year to volunteer his services in Iraq.

As senior rule of law advisor, under the auspices of the U.S. Department of State, one part of Wise’s mission is to observe Iraq’s first provincial elections, which are scheduled for early 2009. (Read More)

Linda Fisher ’82: Shaping America’s Policy

While working as a legislative aide for two congressmen in Washington, D.C., Linda Fisher ’82 got her first taste of environmental law. She had just received her undergraduate degree, and she knew it was an area that she enjoyed. But, she admits, it was not a field in which she intended to center her entire career.

But after more than a decade at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and several years in the private sector, Fisher has garnered an impressive amount of experience helping to change behaviors that could damage the environment. (Read More)

Student Profile: Washington, D.C., Program Success

3L Yasmin Johnson came into law school with a clear idea that she wanted to end up working for the federal government in Washington, D.C. So when it came time to decide what she wanted to do during the summer after her 1L year, Moritz’s Washington, D.C., Summer Program was an obvious choice.

She knew where she wanted to go, but was uncertain on how to go about getting there. “Professor Swire helps you find an internship,” she said. “The good thing about the program is that it is individually tailored.” (Read More)
