Jessica Olmon ’06: Co-Authors Self-Help Book for Law Students Searching for Big-Firm Jobs
Jessica Olmon ’06 learned plenty from her vast job search, which ended with her landing a job with Fulbright & Jaworski in Los Angeles in February of her third year of law school.
So much that Olmon, who was now frequently interviewing candidates for the firm, teamed with Erika Finn, a graduate of Berkeley Law who brings an additional perspective, to write the book: The Insider’s Guide to Getting a Big Firm Job: What Every Law Student Should Know About Interviewing. Justices Needed for the 2009 Herman Moot Court Competition
The Moritz Moot Court Governing Board is looking for interested alumni to act as justices for the Herman Competition. The Herman Competition is the annual appellate advocacy competition for second-year law students. Preliminary rounds will take place Monday, Feb. 16 through Wednesday, Feb. 18 and Monday, Feb. 23 through Wednesday, Feb. 25. Brent Mulgrew ’75: Honored by AMA for Lifetime Achievement
Brent Mulgrew ’75 was recently honored by the American Medical Association with the 2008 Medical Executive Lifetime Achievement Award, which is given to a medical association executive who has contributed and made an impact on the medical profession over an extended period of time.
“After finding out I was being honored for a “lifetime of achievement”, I realized I had been here a long time,” Mulgrew said. “The staff earned the award for me; I didn’t earn it on my own.”
Mulgrew is the executive director of the Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA). He is in his 35th year working for the organization. He started with the OSMA after completing law school.(Read More)

Moritz Names New Asst. Dean for International & Graduate Affairs
Jessica Richman Dworkin started as the College’s new assistant dean for international and graduate affairs at the Moritz College of Law this week. She’ll take over for Professor Anne Doyle, who has been filling the position on an interim basis.
Dworkin will be heading the College’s LL.M. program that was started in the 2007-08 academic year. “I hope to build upon the success of the LL.M. program by growing the program both in size and reputation,” she said. She will also oversee the College’s Master in the Study of Law program and the College’s study abroad offerings in Oxford. (Read More)

Student Profile: Bennett to Clerk in U.S. District Court
3L Natalie Bennett’s decision to attend law school came as a last-minute one. A Chicago native, she left her hometown to major in Pre-medical Studies and American Studies at the University of Notre Dame. Anticipating a career in the sciences, by winter of her senior year she was accepted at some of the country’s top graduate programs for a Ph.D in stem cell biology. After an informal discussion with a lab mentor about patent law, however, she took the LSAT and applied to law schools, ultimately unsure where her future was headed.
