| Chappelear ’77 Named President of Ohio State Bar Foundation |
Stephen E. Chappelear ’77 has no shortage of leadership experience on his resume. But that hasn’t stopped the Columbus attorney from setting ambitious goals as a part of his most recent endeavor.
Chappelear is now president of the Ohio State Bar Foundation (OSBF), which he refers to as one of the most dynamic and successful bar foundations in the nation.
“I’ve attended several national bar foundation meetings, and the Ohio State Bar Foundation is looked upon as a leader,” he said. “When we say something, everyone perks up. They are listening to what we are saying.”

Forbes-Schmitt ’92 Advances to Administrative Law Judge |
Nicole Forbes-Schmitt ’92 did not expect to start her position as an administrative law judge (ALJ) the way she did.
Slated to start in April 2008, she was sworn in on a Monday for her new position. On Tuesday, Forbes-Schmitt, who was then seven months pregnant, learned she would be put on immediate bed rest. “I was at my dream job for exactly one day,” she said.
After giving birth four weeks later and taking an additional six weeks off for maternity leave, she returned to her position as a full-time judge in the end of the June of the same year. Forbes-Schmitt continues as an ALJ for the Social Security Administration in Charleston, S.C. (Read More)

3L Lime Leads Logistics for Justice Ginsburg’s Arrival |
While working for an American recycling firm in Mexico, 3L Jeremy Lime decided to change his career path. “I was managing recycling programs at automotive assembly plants all over Mexico,” he said. “I really enjoyed the work but, after a couple of years, I felt it was time to do something that mattered. I wanted something intellectually robust and challenging.”
A native of Indianapolis, Lime received his bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. Lime paid for his undergraduate education by working the night shift at UPS. “I realized Spanish would be a real asset in any profession, and I wanted to experience foreign cultures,” he said.
When it came down to the decision of applying to law school, Lime applied to only Moritz. He wanted to be near his fiancé, who is earning her doctorate from Ohio University in communication studies. Currently, he is the symposium editor for the Ohio State Law Journal at the College. (Read more)
