Serve as a U.S. Supreme Court Justice at Moritz this November
Second-year students in Appellate Advocacy invite you to be the judge!
We are looking for 80 “volunteer judges” for our “Supreme Court of Moritz” panels. As a judge, you will ask questions and provide critiques while students give oral arguments on a case currently pending in the U.S. Supreme Court. You won't need to do any grading; the oral arguments will be graded by adjunct professors who co-teach the course. If you are able to serve, we’ll send you student brief and bench materials to help you prepare, and you’ll even get your own judicial nameplate (it will be paper instead of bronze, but it’s the thought that counts)!
This year students will be arguing one of the following cases: Watson v. U.S., Logan v. U.S., Holowecki v. Federal Express Corporation, or Board of Education of the City School District of the City of New York v. Tom F., on behalf of Gilbert F. More information about these cases can be found here.
The oral arguments are scheduled from 6-9 p.m., November 7-8 (Wednesday and Thursday) and November 13-15 (Tuesday through Thursday). Judicial recruiting is handled by Traci Martinez, the third-year law student who serves as director of the Appellate Advocacy Council. If you are interested in serving as a justice, please send an e-mail to Traci. Please be sure to include your name, contact information, and the date(s) you are available.
We hope you can join us on the bench!
