| Sally Ward Bloomfield ’69 Honored as College’s
Distinguished Alumna |
On
September 22, friends from far and near gathered with her family members
to cheer Sally Ward Bloomfield ’69 as she was presented with
the 2007-2008 Distinguished Alumna Award. It was evident from the
loud and long applause that her colleagues, who know well her dedication
to improving services to the bar and the community, couldn’t
agree more with the selection. It seemed only fitting that OSU President
Gordon Gee stopped by this special tailgate celebration to add his
congratulations. (Read

| Todd Freed ’97 Honored with Outstanding Recent
Alumnus Award |
For

College of Law over the past decade. (Read

| Ryan Crossley ’07 Realizes Dream of Zeisler-Supported
Real Estate Law Course |
As
someone who had always been interested in business and real estate,
Ryan Crossley ’07 said the decision to enroll in Professor Rick
Daley’s real estate development law course was a no brainer.
What he didn’t know was how one class could improve his knowledge
of the practice area and impact his career. “The class simulated
an associate's role in a real estate law firm,” Ryan said. “Professor
Daley was the partner, and we were working to try to get a deal done.
It was so meaningful because we were working through replicated real
estate deals that Professor Daley had done before.” Today, Ryan
earns his living as a real estate attorney. (Read

| Keith Shumate ’91 Delights in His Family
of Legal Eagles |
In
Columbus legal circles, the surname of Shumate usually conjures the
image of either Alex Shumate, the managing partner at Squire Sanders
& Dempsey and former chair of Ohio State University’s Board
of Trustees or Kim Callery Shumate ‘92, associate general counsel
at OSU and the first African-American female to serve as president
of the Columbus Bar Association. While Keith Shumate, Alex’s
cousin and Kim’s husband, may be the least well-known of the
Shumate three, the 1991 Moritz College of Law graduate has built a
successful litigation practice that has earned him national repute.
