| Karla Chou ’01: From Ohio to Shanghai, Taking
Tax Abroad |
During
the three years Karla Chou ’01 spent at Ohio State for law school,
she took every tax course offered. “For some reason, I really
enjoyed tax, though I was tempted not to take the courses in the beginning,”
says Karla. Her love for tax has taken her from Ohio all the way to
Shanghai, where she now provides international tax services to companies
who carry out cross-border transactions with China and other countries

| Jennifer Hansen '94: Changing Lives with Dreams
on Horseback |
Most
mornings at Dreams on Horseback, Jennifer Hansen '94 will begin her
day by cleaning horse stalls, repairing fence posts, and driving a
tractor while waiting for her first group of excited yet inexperienced
students to arrive. Some mornings, she thinks to herself, "This is
not exactly what I had in mind when I was in law school!" But Jennifer
has made one of her dreams a reality: her non-profit organization
Dreams on Horseback is changing the lives of kids in Central Ohio.

| Border Patrol: Bob Brady '97 on the Front Lines
in West Texas |
While
in law school, Bob Brady '97 looked to "grand historical figures"
for inspiration — Oliver Wendell Holmes, Hugo Black, William O. Douglas.
In his early career, it was JAG Corps colleagues, both prosecutors
and defenders, whose talent and integrity impressed him. Though his
inspiration came from many sources, the message is the same: "Do the
right thing." Bob Brady pledges to do the right thing each day in
his work as an assistant U.S. attorney in an area he describes as
being fraught with criminal activity and corruption: the U.S./Mexican

in the Big Apple |
New
York City is well-known as the city that never sleeps. What occupies
its residents at night is as varied as what fuels them during the
day. While many fear getting lost among a city of eight million people,
four recent Moritz graduates--Andrew Weaver ’02, Jessica Weaver
’03, Mike Mooney ’05, and Anne Thidemann ’03--have
successfully carved their own niches there. (Read

| Moritz Professor and OSU Provost Barbara Snyder
Receives College's Beytagh Award |
Created
in 2005 in honor of Dean Francis X. Beytagh, the college's Beytagh
Award recognizes an alumnus/a, student, or current or former faculty
or staff member for "significant service or substantial contributions
to the college." At a farewell celebration on June 6, Dean Nancy Rogers
(right) presented the Beytagh Award to OSU Provost Barbara Snyder.
Dean Rogers recalled for the crowd the energy and passion Barbara
has shown in her service to the college and the university. Barbara
left OSU this summer to become president of Case Western Reserve University.
