Dean
Nancy H. Rogers has been elected president of the Association
of American Law Schools (AALS). She is the 107th president and
fifth Ohio State faculty member to lead the organization. As president,
she will invite legal scholars and practitioners to look at the engagement

From
his service as a young lawyer at the United States Department of Justice
to his tenure as chairman and CEO of Barr
Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Bruce Downey has had a wide range of experience
during his professional career. He has found his home in the pharmaceutical
field and as a result of his strategy to focus on pharmaceutical products
with barriers to entry, including successful patent challenges, Barr

| Carol Morita ’89 Uses Corporate Lawyer Role
to Promote Public Safety Mission |
As
the child of immigrants, Carol Morita ’89 was exposed to the
legal world at a young age, an early impression that would stick with
her to this day as assistant general counsel of Underwriters
Laboratories Inc., a Northbrook, Ill.-based independent, not-for-profit
product safety testing and certification organization. (Read

| Larry C. Rosales ’05: Fun on the Job at the
National Lacrosse League |
| When
Larry C. Rosales graduated from Moritz in 2005, he knew that he “wanted
to do something fun and non-traditional,” but he wasn’t
sure which career path to follow. Larry was torn between his desire
to work in sports and the feeling that he had to practice law. Larry
finally got his break; he is now the staff counsel for the National
Lacrosse League (NLL) in New York City, N.Y. The best part about
this position for Larry: “Honestly, that it is fun. There is
rarely a day where I'm bored. If I were to ever leave this position,
I'd have to make sure I was having just as much fun while developing
the same experience and assuming even more responsibility.”

for Foreign Lawyers |
The
Moritz College of Law is pleased to announce the launch of its new
Master of Laws (LL.M.)
program for foreign lawyers. As part of continuing efforts to
prepare graduates for an ever more global economy, the international
LL.M. students will be integrated into Moritz’s more than 145

| Former Dean Orin Slagle Remembered Fondly by Faculty
and Alumni |
L.
Orin Slagle, former dean and a 1957 graduate of what is now The Ohio
State University Moritz College of Law, passed away December 26, 2006.
This professor and administrator, remembered as kind, eloquent, and
approachable by those he taught, touched the lives of many students
while dean of the College from 1974 – 1978. He died at his home
in Sedgwick, Maine. (Read
