Firm Support for New Fundraising Challenge
A new initiative called the Law Firm Challenge kicked off on July 1. This annual program invites law firms with five or more Moritz Law graduates to participate. Alumni from each law firm are challenged to give a gift to Moritz during the fiscal year. At the conclusion of the Law Firm Challenge in June, firms with top participation percentages and/or dollars raised will be publicly acknowledged. The ultimate goal for the program is to increase alumni support and participation.
To assist with increasing alumni support and involvement, each participating firm will have a liaison. Their responsibilities include acting as a link between their firm and the law school as well as encouraging their fellow Moritz alumni colleagues to give during the Challenge.
Ken Bravo ’67, who has agreed to be a liaison during the Law Firm Challenge for his firm Ulmer & Berne, fully believes participating in the Challenge is a great way to give back to the law school. Ken says, “While I attended the law school, past alumni provided support to the college. Their assistance gave me a wonderful education. By staying in touch with and being a part of the Moritz College of Law in the years ahead, you too can play a role in making sure that future generations will be able to enjoy the Moritz College of Law.”
Donations to the Law Firm Challenge can be designated to the Law Annual Fund or the Leadership Scholarship Initiative. Both areas of designation play significant roles in supporting the college. The Law Annual Fund provides funding for faculty support, physical improvements and innovative programming such as the Mentoring and More @ Moritz Program and the Schottenstein Zox & Dunn Distinguished Practitioner in Residence Program. The Leadership Scholarship Initiative offers full or partial three-year scholarships to high-achieving candidates who demonstrate strong leadership potential. Recipients will realize their leadership potential through specialized coursework, unique experiences and contact with distinguished practitioners.
Firms in Ohio such as Ulmer & Berne (Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati branches), Faruki Ireland & Cox (Dayton), and Carlile Patchen & Murphy (Columbus) are the first to participate in the Challenge. These firms along with others will make significant impact on the students, faculty and new initiatives at Moritz. Plus, the firms’ alumni will have a unique opportunity to strengthen their ties to the law school and to fellow alumni during this friendly competition.
It’s not too late for your firm to join the Challenge. If your
