Big Cities Offer New Opportunities for Moritz Students
Moritz students will have five new opportunities this summer to meet private and public sector employers from across the country. The Moritz College of Law has joined with seven other top 20 public law schools to form the National Law School Consortium (NLSC) and present job fairs in New York, Chicago, Washington D.C., San Francisco, and Philadelphia.
Moritz created a consortium of all first-tier law schools. They include the University of Illinois, University of Maryland, University of Arizona, University of Georgia, University of California at Davis, George Mason University, and the University of Washington. The schools are natural allies due to their similar academic credentials, small class sizes, commitments to diversity, and strong public interest programs. Truly a national consortium, they represent talented students from each section of the country.
Employer registrations have been phenomenal. With a little over one month to go before the registration deadlines, more than 65 employers have registered for the fairs.

The assistance of alumni is always appreciated and necessary for any Moritz placement initiative to be a success. Much of the credit for the large number of registered employers is due to the efforts of alumni who have encouraged their firms and organizations to participate in the fairs. Alumni were instrumental in the college’s first off-campus job fairs in D.C. and Chicago last year.
Space is still available for employers to register for the NLSC job fairs, although time is running out as the deadlines are in early May. The job fairs in Washington D.C., New York, Chicago, and San Francisco will take place on August 9, 10, 16, and 30 respectively in various hotels in those cities. The Philadelphia job fair is a “walk-about” style program where employers will interview students in their respective offices on August 8. The programs are 100 percent employer pre-select for the benefit of both employers and students.
Please save-the-date for alumni receptions planned in conjunction with job fairs in D.C. (August 8, 5:30 p.m.), New York (August 9, 5:30 p.m.) and Chicago (August 15, 5:30 p.m.). All locations are yet to be determined.
While the NLSC job fairs are the Moritz College of Law’s newest endeavor into off-campus interview programs, the college has and will continue to participate in others. One of last year’s biggest successes was the North Carolina Interview Program that Moritz co-sponsored with George Mason University, University of Richmond, University of Maryland, and West Virginia University. Out of the four Moritz 3L students who interviewed with Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP in Charlotte, three accepted offers in the Charlotte office, and the other student accepted an offer at their Chicago office. This year, the North Carolina Interview Program will take place on September 6 and 7 in Raleigh and Charlotte, North Carolina respectively.
