| Dean's Message | ||
In July, Professor Ned Foley led a group of 18 faculty in launching Election Law @ Moritz, a multi-faceted project to educate the public on legal issues surrounding elections and assist the media in covering election law issues with accuracy. Faculty have published an e-Book detailing election law issues accessible through our web site. Special workshops have drawn national experts in election law and practices to campus. The immediacy of the Internet format has allowed us to track breaking litigation and provide timely analysis of cases and issues. The media have increasingly turned to our faculty for information and analysis. Our faculty have been quoted broadly from the New York Times to the Los Angeles Times and from NBC Nightly News to National Public Radio. In these last days of the campaign, the faculty are holding press briefings daily at 3 p.m. The Election Law @ Moritz faculty will be on hand at press headquarters election night, and beyond if necessary, to continue the dialogue. In this special election edition of This Month @ Moritz, we want to showcase this project to alumni. We hope you will share your alma mater's enthusiasm about this unique project that harnesses scholarship and technology for the greater good. |

| Media Rely on Moritz Election Expertise | ||
Professor Ned Foley, who leads the Election Law @ Moritz project, is an expert on election litigation and has testified, along with Professor Donald Tobin, an expert in campaign finance law, before the Federal Election Commission. Professor Dan Tokaji is one of the nation's foremost authorities on voting technology and voting rights. They and their colleagues, with able assistance from the Moritz Law Library, have guided this project that is unique among American law schools. (Access their articles through Faculty in the News) |

| Election Programming Draws Scholars and Government Officials to Moritz | ||
 Bradley E. Smith (right), Chairman of the Federal Election Commission,
Ohio Governor Bob Taft, and scholars from Stanford, University
of California at Berkeley, and Carnegie-Mellon were among
those who visited Moritz this fall to participate in workshops
and continuing legal education programming on election law
subjects. Topics included campaign financing, electronic
voting, regulation of campaign advertising, and the legacy
of election 2000. Students, alumni, faculty, the press and
the public filled the auditorium and alumni are invited to

| E-Book Breaks New Ground as Electronic Election Encyclopedia | ||
 Written collectively by Election Law @ Moritz faculty
and regularly updated, the e-Book
on Election Law is an electronic encyclopedia covering
a wide variety of election law topics. The electronic format
is unique among law schools and allows faculty to update
topics quickly and post "news alerts" about breaking developments
in election law as they occur. Entries are objective and
accurate; they identify areas of uncertainty where they exist
and describe competing viewpoints. This fact-based, one-stop,
user-friendly treatise is being well received by pundits,
professors and the press. (View
