| Moritz Graduate to Advocate for Florida's 70,000 Farm Worker Women |
Migrant farm worker women - often isolated by language,
immigration status, and economic constraints - face special
challenges when confronted with problems in the workplace.
A prestigious post-graduate fellowship from
Equal Justice Works and funding from the
Florida Bar Foundation will help Mónica Ramírez '03
create a Florida program to address the unique needs of migrant
women who have fallen victim to sexual harassment and other
forms of gender discrimination in the fields. The program
is the first of its kind in the country. Mónica intends to
use her experience to create a template that can be used by
other farm worker advocates nationwide. (learn

| Brad Myers '80 wins University's Failer Award for Service to Students |
"Regardless of our job titles, we are all mentors at
Ohio State," says Brad Myers '80, the University's
registrar who arrived on campus as a freshman in 1973 and
never left. For nearly 30 years, he has enhanced the quality
of student life at Ohio State, first as a student leader,
and ultimately as a student group advisor, mentor, orientation
coordinator, and yes, even as the telephone voice of BRUTUS.
In May, the Ohio State Alumni Association announced that Brad
is the winner of the 2003 Josephine Sitterle Failer Award
for volunteer service to students. The award is confirmation
of his success in "paying forward" the mentoring
he received as a student. (learn
