Charles "Chuck"
Coate '88, a successful California entertainment lawyer,
doesn't define his success in elbows rubbed or names dropped.
Asked to reflect on a moment when he knew he had "arrived"
in entertainment law, he describes the satisfaction of a client
– a producer "David" who won a quick and satisfying
settlement against the "Goliath" Miramax Films over

| Moritz Professor Snyder Named Interim OSU Provost |
OSU President
Karen Holbrook has named Moritz Law's Joanne W. Murphy/Class
of 1965 Professor Barbara Snyder, who currently serves as interim
vice president for university relations, as interim executive
vice president and provost of Ohio State, effective July 28.
Snyder will fill the position until a permanent replacement
for Ed Ray, the current executive vice president and provost,
is selected. Ray has been named president of Oregon State University.

| Kaleidoscope of Unique Programming Raises Clerking/Judging Awareness |
A professional
"baptism by fire," judicial clerkships are a vital
credential for academia and an invaluable proving ground for
practitioners. Moritz Law Professor
Doug Berman (left) has partnered with
Judge James L. Graham '62 this summer to provide an
intensive one-week course, Process of Judging and Clerking,
to give Moritz students an insider's view of the unique
challenges judges and clerks face. The course may also encourage
more Moritz students to pursue clerkships and possibly gain
a competitive advantage when the national clerkship application
moratorium is lifted this September. (learn more) |
