| Larry Herman: Mr. Moot Court Alive and Well in Columbus |
The "ah ha" moment came for this struggling 1L
in his second semester at the University of Cincinnati Law
School. A one-time aspiring sports writer turned English
major, Larry Herman thought a year of law school "couldn't
hurt." He was wrong. Despite his studying
and daily preparation, Larry says, "it was the hardest
year of my life." Then came moot court. With moot court, law school became comprehensible. All the pieces fit together. In moot court, Larry saw a theatre in which he could become writer, director and one of the stars. He never looked back, and a generation of students couldn't be happier. For 30 years Larry ran the College's Moot Court Program, winning two national championships and launching the careers of men and women who would become some of the nation's best advocates. | Judges' Day Proves Mutually Beneficial |
Believing a law school can be improved by the company it
keeps, the College hosted more than 50 jurists and their clerks
at the November 14 "Judges' Day." Judges
representing courts ranging from the U.S. Court of Appeals
for the Sixth Circuit to local courts spent a day interacting
with faculty, inspiring students, and expanding classroom
discussions. In return, the College offered CLE programming
and a scholarly lecture tailored to the intellectual interests
of judges. (Learn

| Dean Rogers to Host DC Alumni |
Central to the Moritz College goal of creating one of the
nation's finest learning environments is a community
of scholars truly committed to teaching. An extraordinary
gift from the late Michael E. Moritz '61 created
four new faculty chairs. Shortly thereafter, J. Gilbert
Reese '52 created a chair in contract law. Seeing
the opportunities these chairs created, groups of donors banded
together to create a series of new professorships. Come
meet the extraordinary scholars who hold these chairs and
professorships. They will be honored at a special reception
for DC-area alumni held in conjunction with the Association
for American Law Schools' Annual Meeting in January. Dean
Rogers invites you to be her guest at 7 p.m., Saturday, January
4 in room "Wilson C" on the mezzanine level of
the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel at 2660 Woodley Road in northwest
Washington. RSVP to lombardi.2@osu.edu or call Assistant Dean
Pam Lombardi at 614-292-8809. |
