2002 Hooding Ceremony

New traditions marked the 2002 Hooding Ceremony held at the historic Ohio Theatre on Friday, May 10. They included a morning honors convocation at the Ohio Statehouse, unveiling of a banner carrying the Colleges new Michael E. Moritz College of Law name, a graduate address by Daniel Richard Griffith and medley of patriotic songs performed by fellow graduate Arleesia L. McDonald.
Following a welcome by SBA President Michael W. Striff, Dean Nancy H. Rogers and Lou Ann Moritz presented the inaugural Moritz Leadership Awards to Rashad V.Chambers 04, Sarah Elizabeth Biehl 03 and graduate Michael W. Deemer. Graduates Matthew E. Crall and Sandip Singh Sandhu received the Harry S. and Georginia Lett Memorial Award and Taneesha R. Dobyne and Alyssa Halley Shenk were honored with the John J. Adams Memorial Award. Professor Charles E. Wilson was voted Outstanding Professor by the graduating class and Jane K. Logan, Assistant to the Registrar, was voted Outstanding Staff Person.
Greta Van Susteren, Fox News Network legal commentator was the featured speaker. A Georgetown law graduate and former adjunct professor known for her concise and insightful analysis of high profile cases, she is an award-winning journalist honored by the American Bar Association.
More than half the graduating class of 212 contributed the class gift, a bronze plaque of the Ohio Supreme Courts Lawyers Creed. It will be displayed in the entrance hall of the College.
