Team finishes as quarter-finalist in National Trial Competition

Gus Lazares and Katie Wallrabenstein, 2Ls at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, finished as quarter-finalists in the 2013 National Trial Competition held April 3-7 in San Antonio.

More than 115 law schools and 200 student trial teams participated in the competition, which was established in 1975 to encourage and strengthen students' advocacy skills through quality competition and valuable interaction with members of the bench and bar. The program is designed to expose law students to the nature of trial practice and to serve as a supplement to their education.

Lazares and Wallrabenstein were regional champions, and their winning streak continued in San Antonio as they were victorious in five straight trials with 15-0 votes by presiding judges and lawyers. In the championship rounds against other regional champions, they won the first two trials 6-0, but were upset by the eventual national champion, Georgetown University Law Center.
