Immigration conference comes to Ohio State, Moritz

A multidisciplinary conference on immigration will be held at The Ohio State University later this month, with the keynote address, “My Life as an Undocumented Immigrant,” to be delivered at the Moritz College of Law on May 10.

The two-day “Immigration: Moving Forward” conference, presented by Conversations on Morality, Politics, and Society, or COMPAS, will cover historical and contemporary policy, economic, enforcement, and citizenship issues May 10-11. Presenters from Ohio State, Harvard Kennedy School, Arizona State University, the American Immigration Council, the Center for Immigration Studies, and other organizations will take part.

Jose Antonio Vargas, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist best known for his coverage of the Virginia Tech shootings, will deliver the keynote address at 7:30 p.m. May 10 in the William B. Saxbe Law Auditorium in Drinko Hall. In “My Life as an Undocumented Immigrant,” Vargas will recount his experience of being brought to the United States at the age of 12 and mistakenly believing his immigration status was valid.
