Career Services Announces New Program to Benefit Employers, Students

Career Services has launched a new initiative, Moritz Short-term Assistance Registry (STAR). STAR is designed to provide private sector employers a pool of qualified and pre-approved second- and third-year students and graduates from the class of 2010 to hire for assistance with short-term projects. The intent of the program is to provide employers with short-term assistance with no obligation to hire on a continued basis and to give students interested in firm or corporate counsel work an opportunity to gainsome experience in the practice. Such projects could include:

  • Document review
  • Research and writing
  • Updating summaries of state and/or federal regulations
  • Assisting with writing articles or updating firm newsletters
  • Updating firm website
  • Filing court documents

All participating students are well qualified to meet employer needs. However, employers may indicate on the application form whether they prefer to pick a candidate or to be assigned a student based on their stated area of interest and availability for the assignment.
