Thomas Wyatt Palmer ’00 was elected partner of Thompson Hine LLP, effective Jan. 1. Palmer is a member of the business litigation group in the Columbus office and advises on matters involving commercial contract disputes, consumer finance litigation, oil and gas rights and lease disputes, breach of fiduciary duty, director and officer liability, trademark and copyright infringement, employer intentional tort, CERCLA, construction contract disputes, real property tax appeals, shareholder derivative actions, breach of warranty and product defect, FDA regulations, product liability, premises liability, real property tax appeals, and pro bono criminal defense. Jolie N. Havens '00, partner in the Columbus office of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP, was recognized as a leading lawyer in the area of health care by Chambers USA in 2013. Her practice is focused on health care compliance, provider reimbursement, and employee health and welfare benefits. (September, 2013)

Judith L. Marsh ’00, a partner in the Columbus office of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP, was recognized as a leader in the areas of franchise law and banking and finance law in The Best Lawyers in America 2014. Her practice focuses on commercial and business law, with an emphasis on general commercial transactions and the Uniform Commercial Code, commercial finance, and franchising and distribution law. Tony Alexander '00 became a member of Burton Law LLC, effective July 31. Alexander's practice focuses on advising business owners as outside general counsel and with business startups. He also has worked with companies through work-out situations and in mergers and acquisitions. (August, 2013)

Jason A. Hill '00 recently accepted the position of court administrator for the Ohio Sixth District Court of Appeals. Hill also was elected president-elect of the Northern District of Ohio Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. (February, 2013)

Bryan R. Faller '00 was named to the 2013 Ohio Super Lawyers Rising Stars list, which recognizes those age 40 or younger who have been practicing law for 10 years or fewer and represent the best of the up-and-coming attorneys in the state. Faller is a partner in Porter Wright Morris & Arthur LLP's office in Columbus, where he focuses on business litigation. (February, 2013)

Jennifer Towell '00 has been elected to a three-year term on the United Disability Services Board of Directors. Towell is a mother of a son with Down syndrome and is a passionate advocate for those who have Down syndrome. (February, 2013)

Melanie Meyer Nealis '00 has accepted a new position as assistant general counsel at Roper Industries in Sarasota, Fla. Nealis' husband, Peter Nealis '00, is a partner at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP, and he will  open a new office for Taft in Sarasota. The couple has two sons, Jackson, 7, and Ethan, 3. Judith L. Marsh '00, a partner with the Columbus office of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP, was included in the 2013 Best Lawyers in America List, which entails an exhaustive peer-review survey. Marsh's practice focuses on banking and finance law and franchise law. (October, 2012)

Suzanne Duddy '00 and Patrick Butler '00 welcomed their son Benjamin Edward Butler on Aug. 28, 2012. Suzanne and Pat live in Alexandria, Va. and are also proud parents to big brother Sam. Suzanne recently was promoted to assistant general counsel at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), in Washington, D.C. Pat is an Army JAG and major and serves as chief of the contract law division for the National Guard Bureau in Arlington, Va. (September, 2012)

Maria Limbert Markakis ’00 recently joined Day Ketterer Ltd. at the firm’s Hudson, Ohio office where she will be serving as chair of its education law practice group. Prior to joining Day Ketterer, Markakis worked as a partner at Eastman & Smith Ltd. (August, 2012)

Jolie N. Havens '00 has been named a partner of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease's Columbus office, where she is a member of the health care group. Havens specializes in health care compliance and reimbursement and employee health and welfare benefits. Havens is a nationally recognized expert in health reform policy and compliance. (January, 2012)

Doug Janicik '00 has been named counsel of Steptoe & Johnson LLP and is based in Phoenix. He handles a variety of commercial litigation matters, including insurance coverage and bad faith defense, business law disputes, breach of contract claims, arbitration enforcement actions, and class-action litigation. He also practices in the area of appellate advocacy in federal and state courts. Timothy McGranor ’00 was selected by peers as a 2012 Ohio Rising Star through Super Lawyers for his fourth year. McGranor, an associate at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP’s Columbus office, focuses his practice on business litigation. (January, 2012)

Mike Zandpour '00, senior vice president and senior counsel of City National Bank, is a 2011 Los Angeles Business Journal Corporate Counsel Award finalist in the public company and rising star categories. (October, 2011)

Bret F. Busacker '00 joined Hawley Troxell as of counsel. A tax lawyer specializing in employee benefits, ERISA, executive compensation, and related tax areas, Busacker is joining the firm's Tax Practice Group. He is a former partner of Thompson, Hine, LLP in Cincinnati. (September, 2011)

David G. Kern '00 was promoted to partner at the law firm of Roetzel & Andress. Kern works in the Cincinnati office, focusing on complex commercian and business litigation and risk management and liability defense. He also handles business torts, foreclosure actions, construction litigation, disability insurance defense, transportation and maritime litigation, and personal injury litigation. (September, 2011)

Jeremy Mercer '00, a commercial litigator focusing on oil and gas, joined the energy and environmental practices of Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P. in the newly opened office in Western Pennsylvania. Mercer advises clients on local zoning issues and has defended multi-plaintiff matters involving allegations of contamination and health effects related to drilling operations. (April, 2011)

Jack Schreibman '00 has been selected as the Deputy Associate Administrator for Administration for the Maritime Administration. The Maritime Administration is the agency within the U.S. Department of Transportation dealing with waterborne transportation. Its programs promote the use of waterborne transportation and its seamless integration with other segments of the transportation system, and the viability of the U.S. merchant marine. (April, 2011)

Bryan Koepp ’00 was promoted to senior vice president at the BB&T Corporation. Koepp, who joined the bank in 2008, is a group financial planning strategist for BB&T Wealth Management’s Georgia team and is BB&T Wealth Management’s lead business transition planning strategist in the bank’s Atlanta office. Koepp has also been recognized by BB&T as Wealth Management’s financial planning strategist of the year in 2008 and 2009 and was a BB&T Sterling Award “best of the best” wealth planning strategist for 2010. Jeremy Grayem ’00 was named a “Rising Star” in the area of business litigation in the 2011 edition of Ohio Super Lawyers. Grayem is a partner in the Litigation Practice Group at Schottenstein Zox & Dunn in Columbus. He is also a member of the firm’s Products Liability and Public Sector Litigation Practice areas. Ann K. Gramza ’00 was promoted to supervising attorney of the Child Protection Unit of Montgomery County, Ohio. Gramza joined the prosecutor’s office in April 2005. She previously worked in the Juvenile Delinquency Division, the Intake and Grand Jury Division, and she most recently was a criminal docket attorney. (January, 2011)

Garrett Smith '00 married Charity Haines. Smith is vice president & corporate counsel for Professional Service Industries, Inc. (PSI). Haines is the director of membership for WTTW Television (PBS) Chicago. The couple reside in Chicago. (September, 2010)

Craig Bryson '00 has accepted a position as senior counsel, global projects at Abbott Laboratories. Abbott Labratories is a global health care company. He has been with the company since 2007. Bryson and his family are relocating to Basel, Switzerland in August. (July, 2010)

Jason A. Hill '00 recently accepted an appointed position as assistant court administrator of the Ohio Sixth District Court of Appeals. Prior to joining the court, Hill served as a partner with the law firm of Connelly, Jackson & Collier LLP, where he maintained a litigation practice. Hill also recently completed the inaugural session of the Ohio State Bar Association's Leadership Accademy. (July, 2010)

Karyn Justice ’00 was named a fellow of the Ohio State Bar Foundation in June. Justice is a solo practitioner in Portsmouth, Ohio. Over the course of 18 months, fellows volunteer their time to a project that promotes the foundation’s mission of improving the justice system and enhancing public understanding of the law. Andrew R. Kruppa '00 was elected as a partner in the Miami office of Squire, Sanders & Dempsey LLP. He is a member of the firm's litigation practice and focuses on commercial litigation and defense of tort, product liability, and serious injury cases. He has represented clients at trials in California, Florida, Indiana, New York, and South Carolina. (May, 2010)

David J. Lampe ’00 joined the law firm of Dinsmore & Shohl as a partner in the firm's labor and education law departments. Lampe focuses his practice in the area of education law, and represents school districts and educational institutions across Ohio. Lampe lives in Cincinnati and is married to Molly (Calvelage) Lampe ’00, who is a vice president and legal counsel for Fifth Third Bank. (March, 2010)

Melanie Meyer Nealis ’00 and Peter Nealis ’00 welcomed a new son, Ethan Richard, into their family on Dec. 18. Peter and Melanie live in Avon, Ohio, and also have a 4-year-old son, Jackson. Melanie was recently promoted to senior corporate attorney at Nordson Corporation in Westlake, Ohio. Peter is at Taft, Stettinuis in Cleveland. (January, 2010)

Suzanne Duddy '00 and her husband, Patrick Butler '00, welcomed their first child, Samuel Patrick Butler, on Oct. 5, 2009. Suzanne is an attorney in the Office of General Counsel at FINRA in Washington, D.C., and Pat is a JAG attorney, specializing in government contract law, for the National Guard Bureau in Arlington, Va. Christopher B. Essig ’00 was elected partner at Winston & Strawn LLP. Essig is a litigator based in the firm’s Chicago office. He focuses his practice in patent, products liability, and antitrust, among other areas of commercial litigation. (December, 2009)

Jason A. Hill ’00 was recognized by the Ohio Democratic Party at the annual State Dinner as the 2009 Democrat of the Year for his volunteer work with the party’s Promote the Vote program. Hill served as Northwest Ohio Regional Counsel overseeing the program in 24 counties in Northwest Ohio. Hill was also recently elected as treasurer of the Northern District of Ohio Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, and recognized for inclusion in the 2010 edition of The Best Lawyers in America. Hill is a partner at the litigation firm of Connelly, Jackson & Collier, LLP in Toledo, Ohio. (November, 2009)

RonNell Andersen Jones ’00, an associate professor of law at the Brigham Young University - J. Reuben Clark Law School, has a forthcoming article in the Washington Law Review entitled “Media Subpoenas: Impact, Perception, and Legal Protection in the Changing World of American Journalism.” Jones’ research is the second article reporting findings of a 2007 nationwide study of the frequency and impact of subpoenas served upon newspapers and television newsrooms. Byron Dailey '01 was named a partner in the Seattle office of DLA Piper LLP, effective Jan. 2 and was listed as in the Washington edition of Super Lawyers in mergers and acquisitions for 2013 after being listed as a Rising Star from 2010 to 2012. (December, 2013)

Amie L. Vanover '01 and her husband, Rick, welcomed their son, Ryker Nathaniel, on Sept. 26, 2013. Ryker joins big sister, Rilee Grace. Vanover is a partner in the Columbus office of Thompson Hine LLP, practicing in estate, trust, and charitable planning and administration. (December, 2013)

Aaron D. Ford ’01, a partner with Snell & Wilmer L.L.P. in Las Vegas, was recognized by two Nevada news organizations and a community foundation for his work as a state senator during the 2013 legislative session. The Las Vegas Review Journal recognized him as the “best Senate freshman” in a poll, and Reno Gazette Journal reporter Ray Hagar named Ford “Rookie of the Year.” Finally Help Animals Nevada honored Ford during a luncheon ceremony in July for his legislative work. Ford concentrates his practice on commercial litigation and alternative dispute resolution. (November, 2013)

Adria M. Tippins-Owens '01 and her husband, Jerard, welcomed their first son, Josiah Ezra Andrew, on Sept. 5, 2013. He weighed 7 pounds and was 19 inches long. Tippins-Owens is an attorney advisor with the U.S. Coast Guard/Department of Homeland Security in Washington, D.C. (October, 2013)

The Honorable Dan Hawkins ’01 has been appointed to the Environmental Division of the Municipal Court in Franklin County by Ohio Gov. John R. Kasich. Hawkins must run in November 2013 to retain the seat for the remainder of the term, which ends Jan. 7, 2016. He previously was an assistant county prosecutor and director of the Special Victims Unit at the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office. The Environmental Court has wide jurisdiction over local laws related to building, housing, air pollution, sanitation, zoning, and safety codes in addition to hearing general matters also administered by the municipal court. Hawkins and his wife, Amy, have three children. (October, 2013)

Adam Lamparello '01 has joined the faculty at Indiana Tech Law School, which opened in the fall. He previously taught criminal law at County College of Morris in Randolph, N.J. and legal research and writing at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law. (September, 2013)

Stephanie Ramjohn Moore '01 and her husband, Kerry Moore, welcomed their daughter, Paige, on Jan. 30, 2013. Moore is an attorney advisor with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. (May, 2013)

Adria M. Tippins-Owens '01 completed her M.P.A. with 3.41 GPA from American University while working full-time. Tippins-Owens is an attorney advisor for the U.S. Coast Guard/Department of Homeland Security. (May, 2013)

Aaron Evenchik '01, an attorney at Frantz Ward LLP in Cleveland, was named to the 2013 Ohio Super Lawyers Rising Stars list. He specializes in real estate and construction litigation. (March, 2013)

John P. Jason D. Eisenberg '01 was elected director of the electronics group at Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox P.L.L.C., an intellectual property law firm based in Washington, D.C. He provides strategic counsel with regard to opinions, due diligence, complex international prosecution, complex reissue prosecution, ex parte and inter partes reexamination, and patent office litigation (i.e., inter partes review) across a wide spectrum of electrical, mechanical, and optical technologies worldwide. He began his career in intellectual property in 1991, serving as a patent searcher and then patent examiner before attending law school. He applies more than 20 years of patent experience to craft creative solutions for the companies he represents. (January, 2013)

Dominic P. Marco Jr. '01 has joined the Turnersville, N.J.-based boutique firm of Lauletta Birnbaum Attorneys at Law. Practicing in Newtown, Pa., he will focus on general business and corporate law, including acquisitions and transactions. He served as an associate with Spector Gadon & Rosen, P.C. most recently. J.R. Hall '01 has been elected shareholder in the Pittsburgh firm Dickie McCamey & Chilcote, P.C. Hall concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial and civil litigation, with a particular emphasis in coal, oil, and gas law and toxic tort law. (January, 2013)

Aaron D. Ford '01, a Democrat, was elected to the Nevada State Senate for the 11th District, with 62 percent of the vote in November 2012. (November, 2012)

David J. Lindner '01 has been promoted to partner with the law firm Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP in Cleveland. He is a member of the firm's real estate and construction law and business law practice groups. He and his wife, Maureen, have two children, and Lindner serves on the board of the Northern Ohio Hemophilia Foundation. (October, 2012)

Suzana Krstevski Koch '01 received an "AV" Preeminent Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating, which recongizes her high professional ethics and preeminent legal ability. Koch is a partner in the commercial and bankruptcy practice group in the Akron office of Brouse McDowell. (July, 2012)

Adria M. Tippins-Owens '01 has been selected for a yearlong detail, commencing July 2, as a member of the minority congressional committee staff and advisor to United States Congressmen, responsible for aiding and advising members on issues across the federal government for the Government Oversight and Reform Committee. Those who work for the committee also provide drafting assistance and policy analysis for various federal agencies with emphasis maritime, surface transportation, and security legislative initiatives and key committee oversight. Tracy Stott Pyles '01 was elevated  to shareholder at Littler Mendelson, P.C., the nation’s largest employment and labor law firm representing management.. A member of Littler‘s Wage and Hour, Traditional Labor Law and Class Actions Practice Groups, Pyles is a regular author and speaker on labor and employment issues, and is an author of the firm’s Wage and Hour Practice Group's blog. Suzana K. Koch '01 has been elected partner at Brouse McDowell. An attorney in the firm's Akron office, she is a member of the commercial and bankruptcy practice group. Koch is a member of the boards of trustees for the Greater Cleveland International Lawyers Group, the Strongsville-Brecksville ABLE program and Mary Emery Circle, and the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Alan Duffy ’01 was selected by peers as a 2012 Ohio Rising Star through Super Lawyers for his third consecutive year. Duffy is an associate at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP’s Columbus office. His practice focuses on employee benefits/ERISA. (January, 2012)

René L. Rimelspach '01 was recently elected to membership in the law firm of Eastman & Smith Ltd.  Rimelspach is based in Eastman & Smith's Columbus office, where she concentrates her practice in the areas of environmental, public and employment law. (August, 2011)

Eric Bono '01 was named Assistant Dean for Career Opportunities at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. (August, 2011)

Dan Hawkins '01 recently returned from the former Soviet Republic of Georgia where he was asked by the U.S. Dept. of Justice and the Georgia Ministry of Justice to provide training to prosecutors and victim/witness coordinators. He helped with the development of the country's newly created victim/witness assistance project, and also trained prosecutors on how to handle cases involving traumatized victims, including sexual assault and child abuse victims. Kevin T. Shook ’01 was recently elected a partner at Frost Brown Todd. Shook practices in the firm’s Columbus office, where he focuses in the areas of property litigation, financial institutions, media law, and advertising law. Shook was also recently named a Rising Star in the 2011 edition of Ohio Super Lawyers. (January, 2011)

Rebecca R. Price ’01 was named an Ohio “Rising Star” in the 2011 edition of Ohio Super Lawyers. Price is an associate at Kegler, Brown, Hill & Ritter where she focuses her practice in the firm’s litigation area. (January, 2011)

Adria M. Tippins-Owens ’01 was married Oct. 9, 2010 in Key West, Fla., on Smathers Beach to Jerard Owens, I. The wedding was attended by many former Ohio State Black Law Students Association members; Arleesia L. McDonald ’02 sang at the nuptials and Sarbeth J. Fleming ’00 and Taneesha D. Stephanie Ramjohn Moore ’01 and her husband, Kerry, welcomed their first child, Jackson Kerry Moore, on May 1. Moore is an attorney advisor in the civil rights litigation division in the Office of General Counsel for the United States Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. (November, 2010)

Dawn Hays ’01 has joined Beggs Caudill LLC as a partner. She will represent employees in employment claims and litigation. Previously Hays practiced labor and employment law at Hahn Loeser and Parks LLP. (August, 2010)

John W. Barron ’01 was honored by The Ohio State University Alumni Association for his distinguished career in public service in June. Barron has spent his entire career in the public sector, including active military duty and state and county government service. The New Albany resident, Ohio, is chief counsel for the Ohio Senate Majority Caucus, representing its members and staff on all legal matters, including those relating to legislation, employment, ethics, public records, and litigation. P. R. Casey ’01 left his job in May as the Ohio Senate democratic legal counsel to start as the chief legal counsel at the Ohio Department of Education. Casey also welcomed the birth of his third child, Delaney Joyce Casey, in May. (June, 2010)

David J. Lindner ’01 rejoined the Cleveland office of Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP, as an associate. Prior to joining Buckingham, Lindner was an associate at Ulmer & Berne LLP in Cleveland. Lindner’s practice is focused on residential and commercial real estate development, leasing, sales and acquisitions, land use and zoning, and tax valuation. (May, 2010)

Adria M. Tippins ’01 was admitted to the United States Supreme Court in March 2009. She was also selected by the U.S. Coast Guard's deputy JAG for a detailed assignment as a loaned executive for the Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area. She assisted the Department of Homeland Security in successfully raising and exceeding its $3.4 million goal from federal employees in the area. She was also recently accepted to American University's School of Public Affairs in pursuit of a master's degree in public administration for the 2010-11 school year. (March, 2010)

Gregory J. Shope ’01 was named partner in the Toledo, Ohio, office of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP. Shope is a member of the Corporate Practice Group and focuses his practice in securities law and mergers and acquisitions. (February, 2010)

Aaron Ford ’01 announced his candidacy for Nevada State Senate District 12 seat. Ford is an associate in the Las Vegas office of Snell & Wilmer LLP. (December, 2009)

Elizabeth Kastner '01 was named partner in the Columbus office of Schottenstein Zox & Dunn. Kastner practices in the firm's Health Law Practice Group. She has been named one of the country’s “Outstanding Young Healthcare Lawyers - 2009” in the September issue of Nightingale’s Healthcare News. Published annually, the current list includes just 10 attorneys nationwide, with Kastner the only honoree from Ohio. (November, 2009)

Kristin J. Frost ’01 has joined the Armstrong Teasdale LLP as a contract attorney in its St. Louis office. She is a member of the firm’s intellectual property practice group. (November, 2009)

Jeffrey A. Fickes ’01 was named partner in the Akron, Ohio, office of Roetzel & Andress. Mr. Fickes focuses his practice in corporate and general business law; mergers and acquisitions; banking and finance law; commercial law; deferred compensation and tax law. (November, 2009)

Paul and his wife, Jennifer, added twins to their growing family on May 14, 2011. Meredith Smith '04 is the lead Title IX investigator/deputy Title IX coordinator for the University of Connecticut. She is responsible for the investigation and resolution of student-on-student sexual assault, sexual harassment, relationship violence, and stalking reports at the main campus in Storrs as well as six regional campuses across the state. In her role of deputy Title IX coordinator, she will be involved in UConn's efforts to prevent and remediate the harm of sexual violence in the undergraduate and graduate student community. Adam C. Sturdivant ’05 and his law partner, Stephen R. Drew, of the law firm Drew, Cooper & Anding in Grand Rapids, Mich., won a sexual harassment/hostile work environment jury trial against Consumers Energy, a utility company, in the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan. Following a two-week trial, the jury returned a verdict in favor of the plaintiff, who Sturdivant’s firm represented, in the amount of $7.9 million in a 7-1 decision. (October, 2010)

Tiffany T. Smith ’09 was the filing attorney for a pro bono lawsuit on behalf of constitutional law professor Abukar Hassan Ahmed, who was reportedly imprisoned and tortured in Somalia during the brutal regime of Siad Barre. Smith’s firm, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, joined with the Center for Justice and Accountability to file the suit.
