Moritz Law's Public Interest Law Foundation (PILF) urges you to save the date of March 2, 2006 for the annual PILF Auction. The auction will take place from 4:30 p.m. until about 10:00 p.m. in the Ohio Union Ballroom. Guests are free to come and go, as silent and live auctions will be happening intermittently throughout the night.
Created in 1984, PILF is a non-partisan, nonprofit student organization committed to reducing the financial barriers to working in public interest law, both by offering summer fellowships to law students who wish to work in the public sector and by educating students about the rewards of pursuing public interest careers.
With assistance from PILF, Moritz students have worked in more than 10 states providing a variety of services to survivors of domestic violence, children of prisoners, victims of predatory lending, migrant farm workers, Native Americans, people with developmental disabilities, and other "outsider groups." In addition, students have served the public interest in federal, state, and local government offices, including state Attorneys General and the U.S. Department of Justice.

PILF summer fellowships are funded, in large part, by the proceeds of the annual PILF Auction, in which fellow students, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the legal community bid on a variety of services and items donated by faculty, students, local businesses, law firms, and community leaders. This year's theme is "Rolling Out the Red Carpet" and will feature live and silent auctions as well as an online auction, in addition to a Texas Hold'em tournament, good food and drink, and live music.
A community effort, the PILF auction has grown in scope and revenues each year. Donations in the past have included tickets to Columbus Crew, Columbus Destroyers, Cleveland Indians, and Cincinnati Reds sporting events; lunch and dinner invitations to dine with Moritz professors and legal experts in the community; and vacation opportunities, just to name a few.
