PILF Auction Proceeds are Record-Setting

Proceeds from the annual Public Interest Law Foundation (PILF) Auction on Thursday, March 4 totaled $25,800. That’s up from the previous record of $18,000.

“I attribute this year’s success to the many, many volunteers and the efforts of everyone on the executive board,” says Dianna Parker, president of PILF. “Our 1L membership did a fantastic job of soliciting items from area businesses, raising awareness among fellow students, and filling in for a variety of tasks the entire day of the auction. We were so lucky to have such a large number of volunteers and a supportive student body, faculty, and staff!”

Among the highlights, go-cart racing with Professor Michael Braunstein went for $370, coffee with Professor Al Clovis at White Castle went for more than $100, and a week-long stay at Mrs. Moritz' South Carolina condo sold for more than $2,000.

Prof. Art Greenbaum offered special thanks to Prof. Mary Beth Beazley for serving as auctioneer, to Dean Rogers for her financial support, and to Asst. Dean Sheila Kapur for her behind-the-scenes assistance, as well as to faculty and staff who contributed items. To student volunteers, he said, "Carrying off an event like this takes lots of time, planning, creativity, attention to detail and commitment. Kudos to all for a spectacular job!"

The added funds will allow PILF to fund an unprecedented number of fellowships this year, according to Parker. “This is crucial, because of the increasing interest, particularly on behalf of the 1L class, in public interest careers,” she added. “We hope to fund as many people as possible.”

Special Thanks to All PILF Donors and Volunteers
