|Like rich cream that rises to the top, Barbara Snyder was the ultimate selection in an exhaustive national search of more than 100 exceptional candidates considered for the University's top academic post. This former Moritz outstanding professor and associate dean was confirmed as executive vice president and provost by the OSU Board of Trustees at its May meeting. (learn more)|
|Bea Sowald '66 Receives OSBA's Highest Honor|
|Beatrice K. "Bea" Sowald never learned to say "no." Despite the demands of an active practice and even when she served on the bench, Bea found time to chair committees, mentor new attorneys, teach, publish, and accept appointment to special task forces. Her contributions to the profession and willingness to serve both the bench and the bar have earned her the Ohio State Bar Association's highest honor, the Bar Medal Award, presented at this year's annual convention in Cleveland. |Professor Ruth Colker Cited by U.S. Supreme Court|
|Continuing confirmation that Heck Faust Memorial Chair in Constitution Law Chair Ruth Colker is among the leading scholars in the country in constitutional and disability discrimination law came from the U. S. Supreme Court in May. Professor Colker's work was cited in the Tennessee v. Lane decision in which Justice Stevens, writing for the Court, affirmed "the elimination or reduction of physical and social structures that impede people with some present, past, or perceived impairments from contributing, according to their talents, to our Nation's social, economic, and civic life." |Tradition and Innovation Mark 2004 Hooding Ceremony|

For the first time, an all-class brunch for graduates and
guests was added to the day's activities that traditionally
include honors convocation and hooding ceremony. Dean Rogers
presided over the ceremony that included former OSU President
and current Vanderbilt Chancellor E. Gordon Gee as primary
speaker and honored Jim Meeks as Outstanding Professor.
|OSBA Women in the Profession Section Honors Ginny Trethewey '77|
|Her pioneering spirit and enduring support of women in the profession, while working at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease and at The Ohio State University, have earned Virginia M. "Ginny" Trethewey '77 the Ohio State Bar Association's 2004 Nettie Cronise Lutes Award. (learn more)|
