A monthly e-newsletter for friends and alumni of the Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University. Subscribe now!
|We are happy to introduce the inaugural issue of This Month @
Moritz, a monthly electronic newsletter for and about law alumni.
Through it, we hope to increase the frequency and quality of our
communication with you. |
This Month @ Moritz is the outgrowth of a series of focus groups we held with alumni last year. We selected focus groups in a variety of cities comprised of alumni from different classes and with varying degrees of ongoing involvement with the College. We posed two simple questions: What are we doing well, and what can we be doing better?
Then we listened.
You said you wanted to hear from the College more regularly. You told us you wanted to keep in touch with each other and with the faculty. You also said you wanted information you couldn't get elsewhere that was useful, timely, and interesting.
With that as our mandate, we have launched a new and, we believe, improved web site. In the months ahead, This Month @ Moritz will bring fast-breaking news about the College, faculty profiles, and features about alumni whose stories celebrate the power of a legal education to change lives.
We consider This Month @ Moritz a collaborative effort, a work in progress. We invite your ongoing feedback about what we are doing well and what we can improve. In return we offer to continue to listen and learn.
With warmest regards,
The OSU Moritz Alumni Relations Department

|Moritz law alumnus John W. "Jack" Creighton '57 took time from his demanding schedule as interim Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of United Airlines to welcome Moritz Scholars to the College of Law at an August 24 dinner at The Ohio State University Faculty Club. He challenged Moritz Scholars to begin preparing themselves now for the leadership roles they will ultimately fill. Creighton outlined ten characteristics of good leadership, drawing examples from the potentially tragic 1914-1917 Antarctic expedition of explorer Ernest Shackleton. Creighton challenged Moritz Scholars to learn from the key decisions Shackleton made and the actions he took in the three year struggle between the loss of the ship and all provisions and the safe return of his entire crew.
